Life Story:  Born in the Mist Village with her twin brother Tetsuya, Yuuna’s parents were leaders of a protest group to build a bridge connecting the Leaf to the Mist. At the time, the village leader Gato hated the idea and did everything in his power to stop it, but her parents and the protest group stood their ground to continue building the bridge. Gato, infuriated by the movement, sent out assassins to kill everyone involved in the protest movement. While Yuuna’s parents were attempting to leave the chaos that surrounded the Mist Village, her brother Tetsuya was knocked out of their mother’s arms and was presumed dead. Fleeing to the Leaf Village, Yuuna’s parents left her with a young man named Mahoko before the two of them were found and killed.

Not knowing what had happened, Yuuna did not question where her parents were as she was so young. Her caretaker Mahoko had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and was not expected to live for very long. He had an abusive father who never really seemed to care about him. When Yuuna was six years old, Mahoko’s illness killed him. Having nobody to care for her, she fled the household to find somewhere new to live. She is then later diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

While living with Mahoko, Yuuna had met her best friend Kaede Fuyuma at a pharmacy who was purchasing medicine for her ill little brother. The two walked home together and were friends ever since. During her early academy years, Yuuna had met Naruto Uzumaki, Shikamaru Nara, and Sasuke Uchiha. The four of them plus Kaede grew quite close, so much so that Yuuna, Kaede, and Naruto would sometimes be referred to as The Musketeers. During her later academy years she met Michio Akihide and Koji Yuichi who would later become her team mates, along with Tami Hatsuye who would become her sensei.

Yuuna became a chunin during the exams, thanks to her determination to never quit and her clear display of leadership and quick thinking.

During the Sasuke retrieval arc, Kaede leaves the village with Sasuke, and Shikamaru calls upon Yuuna to go with the retrieval squad. Her assets of quick thinking and her light manipulation plays to Shikamaru’s advantage. Upon fighting Kaede in the Valley of the End, Yuuna figures out that Kaede had malicious intent and an ulterior motive to leaving with Sasuke. Thus, sparking up her PTSD to act up severely again. She then later develops severe trust issues with meeting new people, and it takes twice as long for her to open up to people about things.

In Shippuden, during the three year gap, Yuuna and Shikamaru have lots of time to get to know each other better and to get closer. The two then actually become a couple during the time skip. Shikamaru helps Yuuna as best he can through her PTSD and trust issues. When Naruto comes back from training with Jiraiya, Yuuna treats him to a bowl of ramen to catch up with him.

During the attack on Konoha arc, Pein destroys most of the Leaf Village. It is at this time when Yuuna is reunited with her twin brother Tetsuya, and the two of them make up old time. Tetsuya helps Yuuna rebuild her home due to it being destroyed in the attack, and then she convinces Tetsuya to move to Konoha and stay with her. He undergoes many harsh tests and missions to prove his worth as a ninja and to test his loyalties, and after a few years is finally certified as a Leaf Village Ninja and gains full citizenship.

In the Ninja war, Yuuna and Tetsuya end up fighting the Edo Tensei versions of their parents. After a long and emotionally draining fight, the twins manage to defeat their deceased mother and father, but not before they say how proud they are of their children. They cry for a moment, but then pull themselves together, as there is no time for crying in a war. They continue on fighting for the Hidden Leaf.

A few years after the end of the war, after life has begun to get back to normal, Yuuna and Shikamaru decide to get married. They have a son, Shikaro Nara, who is the heir to the Nara clan. He looks like his mother but has his father's eyes. Two years later, they have a daughter named Shizukii who is a total daddy's girl. She looks more like Shikamaru but has Yuuna's eyes.
